PCT Test Kit (Immunofluorescence Method)
Indication: Inflammation
The level of PCT rises in a response to a proinflammatory stimulus, especially of bacterial origin. In healthy people, serum/plasma PCT concentrations are found to be below 0.5ng/mL. PCT levels rise rapidly (within 2-6 hours) after a bacterial infection. Viral infections, localized infections, autoimmune diseases, and transplant rejection do not usually induce a significant PCT response (values < 0.5ng/mL). Therefore, PCT levels may be useful to distinguish bacterial infections from nonbacterial infections. In addition, measurement of PCT can be used as a marker of severe sepsis caused by bacteria and generally grades well with the degree of sepsis.
