CEA is a glycoprotein which is present in colon cancer and embryonic colonic mucosal epithelial cells and synthesized by the fetal gastrointestinal epithelial tissue, pancreas and liver cells. CEA can be used for clinical monitoring of gastrointestinal tumors, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer and so on, which can also be detected in choriocarcinoma, bone cancer, prostate cancer and ovarian cancer, but it has no early diagnostic value. CEA is not a tumor-specific marker, but it can be used as a marker of tumor occurrence, metastasis, recurrence and prognosis. It is a broad-spectrum tumor marker of human multiple organ cancer. Mainly for the dynamic monitoring of patients with malignant tumors to help determine the progress of the disease ortreatment.
